You may have seen recent media reports that there has been an increase in drone activities around prisons across the country. Criminals are trying to smuggle in prohibited items such as drugs, tobacco and mobile phones by this method.

We would ask people who live in the locality or frequent the vicinity of Buckley Hall Prison in Rochdale to report any suspicious behaviour or activities to police straight away, either 999 if a crime is in progress or 101 & online reporting for non-emergencies.

Greater Manchester Police have a dedicated operation to disrupt, prevent and tackle serious organised crime linked to prisons. 

It is therefore really important that if anyone has information about individuals involved in such activities, they report this and it can be done anonymously via Crimestoppers at Crimestoppers-uk.org
