The Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings for strong winds across Greater Manchester on Friday 24 January.

Storm Éowyn is expected to move across the North West on Friday, bringing rain and strong winds of up to 50 or 60 mph. 

The Greater Manchester region is subject to both a yellow warning (low likelihood of medium impacts) and an amber warning (low likelihood of high impacts) for strong winds and related disruption between 12 midnight and 11:59pm on Friday.

If you have a long commute, it may be worthwhile to keep essentials such as warm clothing, snacks, water and a phone charger in your car. At home, you can ensure you are prepared for power cuts by gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essentials in a place where you can easily find them in the dark.
