Yesterday morning, police received reports that a school girl had been chased by a man near to Thornleigh Salesian College in Astley Bridge. Police attended the area and spoke to the school girl involved.

We have been patrolling the area this morning around school start time and have located the person responsible for yesterday's incident.

We are aware that this incident was shared on social media yesterday, which you may have seen. The post refers to the person involved being a "man" but it has been confirmed by officers that the person responsible is in fact a child.

We are continuing to investigate yesterday's incident but would like to reassure the community that we have taken action.
