Do you have some noise nuisances in your neighbourhood and you're not sure what to do? Read on and review for some guidance.
How do you go about tackling noise nuisances within your area? This could be a neighbour, it could be off-road bikes or it could be animals.
If you rent your property and your complaint is about a neighbour, this will need to be reported to the housing agency and or council, in order for them to take action against the neighbour in question. The more complaints that the housing agency get about a specific tenant, the more of a priority that they make them due to the volume of complaints that they receive about the tenant involved. If you own your property, this will need to be reported directly to the council then they can collate all the complaints together about a specific tenant and will be able to take further action against them.
The Police work in partnership with the housing agencies and the council in order to tackle these issues and the neighbourhood teams are then informed which make the area a ‘hotspot’ for ASB related issues. The neighbourhood team will then be able to increase more patrols and will be able to speak with the other tenants to gather their thoughts and will pass this onto the council and work together.
When to call the Police - If the noise complaint is about off-road bikes, Police will be able to attend the area to look for these bikes and challenge the riders on their actions. They will be able to conduct checks on the riders and may even lead to prosecution of the riders if their bikes are not fully road-compliant.
If the noise complaint is about an animal, the RSPCA and Police will work together to ascertain if there are any neglect issues which could also lead to prosecution of the people's responsible.
Noise nuisances are increasing within the area and in order to tackle this, we as partnership agencies work together in order to Police our neighbourhoods and make it a more pleasant place to live.
