Yesterday, an off-road quad bike was sighted on Queensway, raising serious concerns after it was observed being operated by a 12-year-old child alongside his father, who was leaning over and appearing to control the vehicle. Alarmingly, neither individual was wearing any safety clothing.
Police officers signalled for the vehicle to stop, but the rider attempted to evade capture. The vehicle was shortly intercepted, and the individuals involved were dealt with for multiple offences.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) will be issued in relation to the incident. If the case proceeds to court, it could result in a fine of up to £1,000.
Safeguarding measures have also been put in place to ensure the welfare of the young child involved.
