A significant arrest was made in Piccadilly Gardens overnight, as PC Simm from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing team and Northern Quarter NBO PC Kadir apprehended a suspected drug dealer in possession of cocaine with intent to supply. The officers were on proactive patrol in the city centre as part of Operation Custodian when they was directed by plain clothes colleagues who had identified an individual behaving suspiciously. Following observation, they approached the suspect and, after a brief interaction, conducted a search. The search revealed a quantity of cocaine, leading to the immediate arrest of the individual on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
This swift action by PC Simm and PC Kadir highlights the ongoing efforts of the police to combat drug-related crime and ensure the safety of our communities. Drug dealing not only fuels addiction but also contributes to other forms of crime and anti-social behaviour in public spaces.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting further questioning, and investigations are ongoing. This arrest serves as a clear message that such criminal activity will not be tolerated in Manchester.
