Theft from Motor Vehicles in your area

Residents,

We have recently had a spike in reports regarding theft from motor vehicles. This is ranging from spare change in your centre console to your registration plate. Your vehicle can be a target to criminals, regardless of it's age or value. There are things you can do to reduce the chances of your vehicle being targeted.

  • Park in a busy well-lit area.
  • Fit tamper proof screws to prevent number plate theft.
  • Try not to leave tools in a van overnight and get them properly marked.
  • Don't take your car keys to bed with you. Leave them downstairs, but out of hook and cane reach.
  • You can also register your property free and improve your chances of getting it back if it is lost or stolen with Immobilise. Thousands of items are lost or stolen each year in the UK. The Immobilise National Property Register already holds the details of 20 million items of property. Add yours now to protect your property and help the Police stop property crime. If any item of registered property is lost or stolen, report it to Immobilise via your online account. This information is then made available nationally to all the major UK Police Forces via their online systems. Register your property for free at www.immobilise.com - it only takes a couple of minutes and once registered, you will have a better chance of getting your property back.

Stay vigilant. If you notice anything unusual in your community, report it to the Police via LiveChat facility on the GMP Website or call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.
