On the Run for a Year – Outpaced by Piccadilly Police in a Day

The Piccadilly Gardens Policing Team has continued its focused work tackling crime and antisocial behaviour in the city centre, securing a number of significant arrests over the past 48 hours.

Today, officers arrested a male who had been wanted for more than a year in connection with possession with intent to supply drugs. After spotting him in the city centre, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly chased down by PC Hare, who detained him following a lengthy foot pursuit. The arrest marks a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply of illegal substances in the area.

Alongside this, the team also detained another male who was found to be in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Such orders are put in place by the courts to prevent persistent offending and antisocial behaviour, and breaches are treated as serious criminal matters.

These actions follow yesterday’s arrest of Charles Wood, who was also found to have breached his CBO. He appeared in court today, where he was sentenced to 14 days in prison and ordered to pay £154 in costs.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt for the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team said “These arrests highlight our ongoing commitment to keeping Piccadilly Gardens and the wider city centre safe for residents, workers, and visitors. It’s a spiffing example of teamwork and determination, and we will continue to take robust action against those who persist in offending or engaging in behaviour that harms the community”

The Piccadilly Gardens Policing Team continues to work closely with partners and the public to address crime and antisocial behaviour, ensuring that offenders are held to account.
