Richmond Street Update

Over the weekend, GMP have been investigating an incident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday 24th January 2026 on Richmond Street in The Village area of the City. 

A man is in his 20s is in a stable condition in hospital having sustained an injury to a leg that is described as non-life threatening or life-changing.

Due to the locality of the incident, it is important to share that enquiries have revealed that this is not a hate crime of any nature.

The area where the incident occurred has now been processed and there are no cordons that remain.

Officers from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team have been out in The Village today and will continue to provide constant and visible reassurance in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to them as they are there to help.
