Knife Crime: It’s NOT Worth It |
||
|
Knife crime destroys lives and futures it’s never worth it.
In the UK, carrying a knife in public without a good reason is illegal, and “self‑protection” is not accepted. Offenders face up to 4 years in prison, and repeat adult offenders get a minimum of 6 months. Threatening someone with a knife also brings a minimum 6 month sentence, up to 4 years.
Prohibited weapons like zombie knives, machetes and ninja swords are banned even in private, with penalties of up to 2 years’ imprisonment.
If someone is harmed, the consequences are much heavier. A stabbing can be charged as GBH with intent, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with typical sentences ranging from 2–16 years depending on the harm and intent. Knives are treated as “highly dangerous weapons”, increasing the severity of sentencing. Serious reckless injuries can also fall under violent offences where the maximum sentence is life.
Carrying a knife puts you at greater risk, most knives end up being turned on the person carrying them.
A criminal record affects work, travel, education and your entire future. No argument, no reputation, no moment of anger is worth losing years of your life.
Stay safe: walk away from trouble, avoid risky situations, don’t carry for others (the law still holds you responsible), and stick with positive people.
