No Comment, No Escape: Dealers Charged After Piccadilly Gardens Sting |
||
|
Officers from the Piccadilly Gardens neighbourhood team have delivered a decisive response to suspected drug dealing in the area, resulting in two arrests, significant seizures, and charges brought within 24 hours.
The operation began when CCTV operators identified two males believed to be engaged in drug supply activity within the gardens. Acting quickly on this intelligence, PCs McKenzie, Zamecnik, Lomax and Duffy coordinated a swift intervention, moving in to detain both adult males at the scene.
Subsequent searches uncovered a large quantity of cannabis, a significant amount of cash, and multiple mobile phones—items commonly associated with drug supply. Following the arrests, officers carried out house searches linked to the suspects, leading to the discovery of further cannabis, additional cash, weighing scales, more mobile phones, and a zombie-style knife.
Both offenders were interviewed today, during which they provided “no comment” responses to all questions. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, both men have now been charged with Possession with Intent to Supply Class B drugs (cannabis). The individuals, who are also subject to immigration bail, have been remanded in custody and will appear at Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
PC Dan McKenzie, the Officer in the Case, highlighted the effectiveness of the team’s coordinated approach: “This was a great example of proactive policing and strong teamwork. Acting on real-time intelligence from CCTV, we were able to respond quickly, detain the suspects, and secure key evidence. Taking positive action like this is crucial in disrupting drug supply networks and keeping our communities safe.”
Sergeant Jon Wyatt also praised the efforts of the team and reinforced their commitment to the public: “I’m incredibly proud of the team for their professionalism and determination in this investigation. We know the impact drug supply has on the community, and we will always listen to those concerns. We will continue to take robust action against those involved and ensure Piccadilly Gardens remains a safe place for everyone.”
The Piccadilly Gardens neighbourhood team remains committed to tackling crime head-on and working closely with partners and the public to address issues that matter most to the community.
