Suspect charged for attempt voyeurism |
||
|
Good Afternoon, On 7th December 2025, officers attended McDonald’s on Oxford Street following reports of a male recording females inside the women’s toilets by positioning a device over a cubicle door. The suspect was quickly located and arrested on suspicion of voyeurism, defined as the act of observing, photographing, or recording a person engaged in a private act without their consent, primarily for the purpose of sexual gratification. The suspect was interviewed, and extensive enquiries were carried out to safeguard the victims. Bail conditions were imposed, including a night-time curfew, and the suspect was released on bail pending further investigation and a charging decision from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Following a detailed investigation, on Friday 5th June the CPS authorised a charge of attempted voyeurism, namely attempting to observe someone engaged in a private act without their consent. The suspect has since attended Longsight Police Station and has been formally charged with this offence. A court date has been set, and further bail conditions have been imposed, including residing and sleeping at his home address, as additional measures to protect the public. Officers have also applied for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which will be considered at the court hearing. Officers remain committed to pursuing those who commit offences linked to violence against women and girls. Safeguarding victims continues to be our highest priority.
