A Morning Patrol in The Village

Officers from Greater Manchester Polices City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting proactive patrols in the Gay Village beat area as apart of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and address concerns raised by local residents, businesses and the wider community.

During one of these patrols, officers identified a person who was wanted for 3 x burglary and 1 x common assault. The individual was subsequently arrested and taken into police custody, where enquiries into the offences will continue.

The proactive patrols form part of the teams commitment to maintaining a visible policing presence in the village, deterring offending and taking positive action when offenders are identified.

In addition to patrol activity, local officers have also been responding to concerns raised by residents regarding entrenched rough sleeping and anti social behaviour within the communal area of a block of flats.

Officers have visited the location to speak with residents, to understand the issues being experienced and assess the circumstances. The local neighbourhood policing team are working to address the concerns alongside the relevant partners, recognising the trouble these issues are causing for residents in the village.
