While burglary levels across the district remain low, historically we often see an increase in burglary offences as the evenings become darker during the autumn and winter months. 

Criminals look for opportunities, and by taking a few simple precautions we can all play a part in making our neighbourhoods safer and reducing opportunities for crime.

Help Protect Your Home

Consider the following crime prevention measures:

✅ Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home.
✅ Keep valuables such as keys, wallets, handbags and electronic devices out of sight.
✅ Use timer switches on lights when you are away from home to give the impression the property is occupied.
✅ Keep sheds, garages and outbuildings secure and ensure tools are locked away.
✅ Install and maintain security lighting, alarms or CCTV where possible.
✅ Avoid advertising expensive purchases by leaving packaging visible outside your property.
