Residents are being reminded to be vigilant of unexpected callers offering roofing, chimney, guttering, or other home repair services.

Fraudsters and rogue traders often target households by claiming there is urgent damage to your roof or chimney that needs immediate attention. They may use pressure tactics to persuade you to agree to work on the spot.

✅ Always ask for photographic ID.
✅ Take your time and never feel pressured into making a decision.
✅ Request written quotations and check reviews or references.
✅ Use reputable, trusted traders.
✅ Do not allow anyone onto your roof or begin work without proper checks.

If you're unsure about a caller, do not let them into your home and consider speaking to a family member, neighbour, or friend before agreeing to any work.

If you feel threatened or believe a crime is taking place, contact Greater Manchester Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
