Keeping Safe in Manchester City Centre

Keeping Safe in Manchester City Centre

The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team has been out and about today, continuing our work to keep people safe across Manchester city centre.

PC Micklewright and PC Crowson arrested two adult men on suspicion of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence. The investigation remains ongoing and we are not able to provide further details at this stage.

The arrests are a reminder of the importance of looking out for the signs and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

For parents and carers, this can include being aware of who children are spending time with, changes in behaviour, secretive relationships, unexplained gifts or money, or someone making them feel uncomfortable or pressuring them to do things they don’t want to do.

For everyone visiting the city centre, stay aware of your surroundings, look out for friends, particularly when enjoying the night-time economy, and don’t be afraid to approach an officer if you have concerns about someone’s safety.

Our officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led activity and work with partner agencies to identify and safeguard vulnerable people and deal with those who cause harm.

If something doesn’t look or feel right, report it. Your information could help us keep someone safe.
