Community Safety Message: Off-Road Bikes We have received reports of off-road bikes being ridden in parks, footpaths, residential areas and other public spaces. While many riders use these bikes responsibly on private land with permission, the illegal use of off-road bikes can pose serious dangers to the community. Off-road bikes can travel at high speeds, often without proper lighting, registration plates or insurance. This creates a significant risk to pedestrians, cyclists, children playing outside and other road users. Riders may also place themselves at risk of serious injury, particularly when travelling without appropriate safety equipment. In addition to the safety concerns, off-road bikes can cause noise nuisance, damage to green spaces, parks and footpaths, and can be intimidating for local residents. Their use in public areas may prevent families and vulnerable members of the community from enjoying these spaces safely. We ask parents and guardians to be aware of where young people are riding these vehicles and to discuss the potential consequences of unsafe or illegal use. Community support is vital in helping to reduce anti-social behaviour and keep our neighbourhoods safe. If you witness the illegal use of off-road bikes, please report it through the appropriate channels, providing as much information as possible, including locations, times and descriptions of the riders and vehicles where it is safe to do so. Together, we can help make our communities safer for everyone. | ||
